Chinese Marksmanship

How do you say "bullseye" in Chinese? Well, that would be 牛眼 (niuyan), but I'm getting in the way of my own rhetoric.

It turns out the Chinese have shot down a satellite.

Not that I'm particularly thrilled about the PLA developing the capacity to turn our space-based intelligence assets into rubble, but it's pretty cool that they freakin' blasted a satellite out of the sky with a ballistic missile.

This bit is slightly worrying, though:
On the day of the test, a U.S. defense official said the United States was unable to communicate with an experimental spy satellite launched last year by the Pentagon's National Reconnaissance Office. There was no immediate indication that that was a result of the Chinese test.
Probably a coincidence, but my inner conspiracy theorist (I only let him out on Thursdays, coincidentally enough) wonders: what exactly that experimental satellite was peeping at? Was the Chinese "test" just a cover to take out a U.S. bird.

It's easy to speculate that Washington wouldn't want to say anything either out of embarrassment, to guard the secrecy of the satellite's mission, or to keep it from blowing up into a big diplomatic and military crisis.
