Hillbilly metal
A friend recently played me some of the weirdest music I've heard in a while -- hillbilly covers of AC/DC songs.
In a stroke of absolute Ozarkian genius, the band is called Hayseed Dixie.
Sensing a huge, untapped market for bluegrass metal, Amazon helpfully suggests similar recordings, including "Kiss My Grass: A Hillbilly Tribute to Kiss" and "Fade to Bluegrass: Tribute to Metallica".
In a similar vein, one can also pick up "Lounge Against the Machine" by Richard Cheese, who covers alt/metal hits such as Limp Bizkit's "Nookie" and Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" with the schmaltzy flair of a Vegas lounge act.
How cool is that?
