Neil Gaiman is pretty cool. If you know Neil Gaiman's work, you know this is true. If you don't know his stuff, well, he's the creator of The Sandman comics, author of such excellent fantasy novels as American Gods, and writer of the screenplay for the movie Mirrorworld, coming soon to a theater near you. Pretty cool, huh?

Well, there was one person who, for a while, didn't think he was cool at all. His son:

I remember when my son Mike was 12 or 13, he looked at me very sadly one day and said, "Why don't you ever do anything cool?" I said, "Well, what do you mean?" "You never write anything cool." "Well, what would be cool?" "Well, if you wrote Spider-Man, that would be cool. But you don't. You just write these comics that nobody ever reads."
