Hot Little Laptop

I am blogging from home on an IBM X31 ThinkPad.

It's a sweet little machine. Got everything built right in. Great little workhorse of a computer.

But by the raven of Odin does this sucker run hot.

After about 15 minutes of operation you can no longer actually hold the machine on your lap, unless you put a cushion or other slab of insulation under it.

The bottom becomes too hot to hold your hand against for more than a couple seconds, and every few minutes, the fan kicks in, blowing a feathery little blast of near-scalding air out the right side of the machine.

I swear you could cook s'mores with it.
