It turns out that football players eat a lot of food.
The Seattle Seahawks training camp wolfs down 80 pounds of beef, 80 pounds of chicken, 60 pounds of fish, 20 pounds of potatoes and 40 pounds of eggs.

It's not uncommon for a 300-pound lineman to drop nine pounds in one day. Apparently it is actually difficult for the players to force themselves to eat and drink enough to maintain their weights and health.
