Odin's Raven

Speaking of Odin's raven, I mentioned that I finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

Basically, it's about a convict caught up in a battle between old gods and new ones. Lots of mythology presented with a wry, modern twist.

At one point, the main character, Shadow, is being led through the wilderness by a giant raven that he reckons belongs to Odin, the Norse All-Father.

"Hey," said Shadow. "Huggin or Muninn, or whoever you are."

The bird turned, head tipped, suspiciously, on one side, and it stared at him with bright eyes.

"Say 'Nevermore'," said Shadow.

"Fuck you," said the raven.
Classic.
